Beacon

I see your hair is damp from swimming —
Star gazing, the moon rising
Lifeless floating
Your eyes closing
Your ears not hearing, muffled and submerging
Black ocean, water diving
Legs treading
— I don’t want you to swim too far out
I want you to see me stand from shore —
My right hand raising
Arms stretch out, embracing
To be a lighthouse
Becoming your beacon
